WCRA Cyclo-Cross Championships 2003

The inaugural WCRA Cyclo-Cross Championships were held at Daventry on the 5^th January 2003, superbly promoted by the Rugby Velo. 10 women took to the start line with current National Champion Isla Rowntree (Stourbridge RC) stringing them out from the gun. Setting a ferocious pace around the mile long circuit Isla was chased by young Nikki Harris and Sue Carter with Gabby Day and Viv Cox engaged in their own battle further back. Drama struck on the final lap when Sue had the misfortune to have mechanical problems and slipped back through the field.
