| Ladies Handicap Race - Distance 32 Kilometres | |

The second of the WCRA Handicap Series on Saturday saw 50 riders start in the ladies event around the Milton Keynes Bowl. Split into 4 ability groups, with the limit group having a 3-lap advantage over the others, the scratch group made quick work of linking up with the other 2 groups. However, catching the entire limit group proved too great a task and even a tremendous solo effort from Julie O’Hagan (CC Luton) could not prevent a Welsh 1-2 with 12 year-old Alexandra Greenfield (Maindy Flyers) beating senior partner Alyson Rowe (Cardiff Ajax). The bunch sprint for 4th place, which proved to be a judge’s nightmare, was won by Chrissie Viljoen (Hemel Hempstead CC) from Commonwealth Games rider Hsu Min Chung (Twickenham CC) and 13 year-old Jessica Stoddart (Interbike RT). Also well up in the bunch sprint was Julie O’Hagan despite her solo effort to lap the main field. |

| A field of nearly 90 riders started the Men’s Race, over 50 laps, and saw a well-earned victory for Simon Howes (Sigma Sport). Howes, who had been the main aggressor throughout the race, eventually linked up with Eddie Adkins (Bournemouth Arrow) to stay clear of the fast moving bunch, which was led home by last week’s winner Brian Fleming (Tri & Run). | |

Next week will be the final event in the Series - with the Women’s Trophy plus overall awards for both the Men and the Women still in the balance (part of the total prize fund for the Series of around £1300) as well as the Youth races. Racing
starts at 11.30am with the Men’s event, followed at 1.15pm by the
Women’s Handicap and the Youth races – various distances, at 2.45pm Advance
entries:- Men’s / Ladies races £8.50 and Youth races £3. (Entries
